Village Of Valleyview

I wanted to let residents in Valleyview know that Dean Johnson recent investor is haveing two so called town meetings first is June 9th and June 13th . The meetings will be held at the village hall at 6:00 pm . He has sent notices to property owners on Eldon Ave.After talking to postal person it was 20 notices and only a few recieved because the owners do not live at the properties. The meeting is to answer questions or anyone who has any comments.shouldn't all residents be told ?

One would think everyone would be notified. But then one would think alot of things that aren't true. Like the sexual offenders we are not allowed to talk about. Does that sound true? No? Well it is. Too many things are topsy turvy here in Valleyview T., and it breaks this residents heart. Tis not near the same village I was proud to move into and call my home. I did not get a notice of this meeting Mr. Johnson has called. I wonder how it was decided who would ?

Meeting Announcements

The Property and Planning Committee Meeting would be announced to all residents as prescribed in the Rules of Council and the ORC, through the posting boxes.

I believe that the Property and Planning Committee met with Mr. Johnson and requested that he inform all of the residents on Eldon that are directly effected. The rest of the Village would be informed as any meeting is announced in the Village through the posting boxes. That is not to slight any of the residents, but to inform every resident is difficult without a daily paper.

So, all residents are being notified, but a courteousy was extended to the residents of Eldon because of the more direct impact upon them. There is no requirement that I know of that Mr. Johnson had to send those letters to the residents on Eldon.

I do not believe that anything is being kept from the residents. The Public Meetings should be announced at the Regular Council Meeting on June 6th and would be in the Messenger for the weekend. That does not leave much time for the 9th, but the 13th would be printed. The Meetings would have to be posted as well 24 hours in advance and the rules of Council ask that the notices be posted atleast 4 days in advance.

I have not been in attendance to the Property and Planning Committee Meetings so I do not know the specifics that were addressed, but I believe that they are looking out for the best interests of the Village.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the Committee Meetings. Past Meetings dates were announced at the Council Meeting and properly posted in the posting boxes. I do not believe that it would change in the future.

No Different Than Anywhere Else

To address the sexual offender issue, you are allowed to inform your neighbors about the presence of someone who is required to register with the Sheriff's Office as a sexual offender or predator. You can give information about sources of information. I do not believe that anyone wants a neighbor like that, but understand that those individuals have completed their sentence and have the right to live peacefully as well.

Here in Valleyview or anywhere else in Ohio there are protections in place for everyone. Everyone has rights and they are protected for everyone. Valleyview is not different than Columbus, Dublin, Obetz or any other community as to the steps that they can take.

As to who decided who was informed directly I believe that was decided at the Committee Meeting and more information can be found in the posting Meeting Announcements.

I believe that the Village is making progress. What other issues do you feel that are topsy turvy in the Village? We cannot address everything at once, but we can make priorities to be addressed. The Council and Committees have been receiving very little feedback from the residents to know their feelings on issues.

We want residents to take pride in their Village and feel that they can have their problems or issues addressed. If the Council and Committees are unaware of those issues than it is difficult to act.
