Background Checks
From Ordinance 627
Section 2. Qualifications of Deputy Marshals
A. Must be a citizen of the United States of America
B. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
C. Must be of good moral character
D. Must be a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Training School
E. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver?’s License
F. Must complete a criminal, driving, and employment background check.

Part F requires that deputy marshals COMPLETE a CRIMINAL, DRIVING, and EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND CHECK. The officers have only been approved for probationary status. So, background checks are being performed for all of the officers and Chief.

Parrish & Valleyviewers
First Mr. Parrish, it appears you are taking from Raylene, ''Raylene had all her excuses ready'', when she talked to the Messenger.
Thank you Valleyviewers. It is about time someone spoke up for you.
Parrish, the chief and Watkins doing checks is in my opinion, is as hiring a CPA with embezzlement charges. Valleyviewers, thanks for this analogy.
''Menacing, bad checks, traffic violations?'' Wasn't it a menacing threat when Watkins threatened me with arson? Or Mr. Parrish does it depend whom he is threatening? Or telling me on the internet, ''Keep your mouth shut or you will be all over the news.''
I think the foxes have been let loose in the hen house.
I would think,''Things are being watched very closely for everyone.'' It is only a matter of time before some go back to their old ways. You can't teach a old dog new tricks. They just learn more new tricks.
Russolillo refused to let council see references of officers. I was chastized for checking into Mark Consolo's background. What was hidden about him?
By the way, did they ever charge anyone for setting fire to Craig Stanton or was it pushed under the rug as was the $5,200 repair for the police cruiser?
Valleyview really needs officers who might have been given the option of quiting or being fired or give residents the finger.
How soon before you get Jason Nabach back?

It Is Not The Past
I cannot change the past, all I can do is prevent what happened in the past from happening again.
This Council is entitled to see the information on the officers as it is the Council's responsibility to hire ALL employees of the village. To make hiring decisions the Members of Council need all the information that they can get.
Nothing is being swept under the rug and oversight is being provided by everyone. There will not be any returning to the old days. The old days are over and in the past. The Village is moving forward and laying the ground work for a better future.
Everyone has to play their role and do their jobs. That will prevent the old days from returning.
Of course only half the story was posted here on the site about the alledged charges against the officers. They do an unjustice to anyone when they fail to also mentioned that charges were dismissed. The Council is responsbile for hiring the best employees that they can for the Village. In the past Council did not play the role that they should have and the Mayor did everything. Council now is playing the role that is required of them by the ORC and looking out for the Village.
How things are going in the Village are your opinions Ms. White. From the feedback that I have gotten from residents around the Village they are pleased with the progress they are seeing in the Village. Things do not change overnight but the Village is heading in the right direction. I want to thank my fellow Councilmembers and the residents for helping correct the problems of the past and for being patient while things move forward.
Any suggestions are always welcome and if a resident has information that we need to know about an employee I encourage them to contact a Councilmember and relay that information. If we do not know about it we cannot take action.

Good Moral Character
Who sets the definition for Part C? When you apply for a job, do you use references who will give positive feedback or ones who are aware of your ''skeletons''? How many times do we here people on the news saying they were framed or victimized when their history was exposed (''I didn't inhale!'' ''I am not a crook''). Is the criminal check a BCI report? This only shows convictions. To obtain full information, you need to check available public records for full court proceedings.
