There are four seats up for election this November on the Village Council.
Those seats are currently held by Ron Hays, Marzia Helton, Jack Morgan and myself. The terms expire December 31, 2005.
If you are interested in standing for election for one of those seats paper work must be turned in to the County by Auguat 25th. To confirm that date follow the link below to the Secretary of State's website election calendar.

The County can help you with any questions you may have about the form. You will need to collect signatures from registered voters in the Village for your form, approximately 12 signatures.
The seats are for four year terms commencing on January 1st, 2006. Salaries for Members of Council are $50 per meeting with a cap of $100 per month regardless of how many meetings are held during a month. There is also reimbursement for attending training classes.
The top four vote getters from among those running will be elected. For the 2001 election there were eleven candidates for the four seats. Only Jack Morgan remains from the four that were originally elected in 2001. Ron Hays, Marzia Helton and myself were appointed to fill unexpired terms when members of council resigned. Jack Morgan stepped down from his council seat for almost year to deal with family matters and was reappointed to the Council. I have been serving the longest on Council at almost three years this July.
If you want to play a more active role in the running of the Village this is your opportunity. To be eligible to run you must be a registered voter and have resided in Valleyview for a year.
