Update December 2010 - important

Hi everyone,

On a very positive note, the board wishes everyone a fun and family filled holiday. I am so proud of our neighborhood and the gorgeous light displays everywhere; its going to be hard to choose a winner this year. PLEASE be safe and take care of yourselves and each other!!

On another note ---The board voted unanimously yesterday to change the locks on the bathroom doors to both the women's and men's restrooms in the recreation areas as soon as possible. The key or keys will be held by AMS (I will keep one) and access will be made available for residents should they have an event, or for HOA sponsored events. For those occasions, a key will be signed out and returned following the event (i.e. birthday parties; luncheons; HOA meetings; movie nights and so on). I volunteered to maintain one set of keys should anyone need them on short notice.

Here is what is going on: We have had 3 incidents of trashing the bathrooms in fairly disgusting ways; to include used condoms found and so on. We, meaning all of us, have paid just under $1,000 for repairs, clean up, replacement of water fountain parts and the like just this year. For example just two days ago gum was all over the drinking fountain; the bathroom door was propped open and was a god awful mess.

This is inconvenient for all of us; but the few have made it a problem for the many. I also worry about open bathrooms late at night and the liability we could perhaps incur should something tragic happen in one of those bathrooms.

We will add this to our spring agenda for permanent vote; but until that time the bathrooms will be kept locked except when a key is signed out by an adult resident.
