Why don't more Homeowners

Posted in: Fox Run
Why don't more homeowners attend the annual meeting or sign their proxy so the community can conduct business? Do we have that many people that do not care? Who do you think makes decisions in your HOA? Why did you move to an HOA if you are not willing to participate?
homeowners apathy

So many homeowners do not care what happens in the community as long as they are left alone.

  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor

Well, when the folks running the HOA and monitoring the neighborhood pick out every little issue or perceived issue, then people stop caring.  What ever happened to peoples pursuit of happiness. and their security in their own homes and property?  I am not by any means implying that people should trash their property, but for goodness sakes, when I have 1 weed that sprouts up on the side of the house in the spring/summer and you send me a notice of violation postcard, I get mad as hell when I see other stuff that is way worse.  Matter of fact when I was in Iraq serving my country and my wife was home alone trying her best to tend to things, she said she was always getting somthing in the mail accusing a violation.  We were also told that the HOA would dissolve once the community was established, and that is our fault for falsely beliving that statement.  Last I checked this was not a socialist country, and as long as I am not infringing on or violating your rights, than leave me the heck alone!  When you pay my mortgage and taxes you can dictate how I am to live, until then back the hell off!

A pissed off neighbor.

I never know when the meetings are.  Why not send out a notice a week or so ahead of time.  T he day of is of no help.  Just like the garage sale -- no notice.  I am not going to remember 6 months in advance and I saw the tiny sign on the pole the night before the garage sale.
