Keller Hicks and Alta Vista

Mar 03, 2006

Many homeowners experience the congestion and frustration of traveling along Keller Hicks and Alta Vista. As many of you also know, future Beach (future 4 lane road) will enter at Alta Vista, immediately before the intersection of Keller Hicks and Alta Vista.

Per the meeting last night, between CFW (City of Fort Worth and KISD) the following will be undertaken. Keller Hicks is tentatively scheduled to become a 4 lane undivided road, at the cost of $1,253,000. KISD under the Community Facility Agreement (CFA) will commit $642,250.

Prior to the school opening in July, plans are underway to transform Keller Hicks into a 3 lane road with temporary signals and sidewalk (in front of the schools). In addition, Beach is being transformed into a major 4 lane arterial costing $2,502,000. Currently, there is not a CFA with KISD per the finding of the Traffic Impact Study.

Currently, plans are underway to transfer funds under the CFA, from Keller Hicks on the East side to Alta Vista to provide additional funding for the 4 lanes in front of schools.

KISD has committed $600k to the CFA. $400K is the cost to relocate the utilities that will be impacted at the intersection. Transition should be complete prior to the schools opening in July. Thanks to all everyone! We are finally being heard!
