Neighborhood Clean-up Celebration!
Please join us this SATURDAY, November 4th from 8-10 a.m. as we work together to clean common areas of the Villas. We will meet in the driveway of the Gercken Home, 12055 Cobblewood Lane North. Donations of Mulch are needed. IF YOU CAN NOT JOIN US, please do your part by cleaning your own lawn that day. If everyone chips in, we can really make a noticeable difference!

Are You Doing Your Part?
We have seen some major improvements in the neighborhood but we continue to have some problems. Please DO YOUR PART to help us make the Villas of Cobblestone great!
Some of the problems we?’ve noticed lately include:
- Parking in yards
- Old, rotting or broken fences
- illegal dumping of yard waste in
vacant lots
- Trash cans stored outside of homes
- Homes in need of painting
- Speeding/Loud car stereos
- Unattractive window coverings

JaxPride (NIVP Program)
Several members participated in the JaxPride NIVP Program on Saturday, October 21. Shirley Dasher of JaxPride showed a slide presentation of city code violations and explained to participants how we can work together to reduce visual blight in our neighborhood. Several violations were noted in our neighborhood and we expect to see those resolved in the near future. As a result of this program, we expect to see our street lamps painted and maintained, fire hydrants painted, and street signs straightened. It was a positive day and we are so glad we participated!

Next Meeting....
Due to the upcoming Holiday Season and busy schedules, we decided to postpone our monthly meetings until January. In the meantime, let?’s all continue to do our part to keep the neighborhood clean!

New Secretary Added To Board
We are pleased to announce our new Secretary, Heidi Crystal. Thank you, Heidi, for agreeing to fill this vacant position!

In The News Again
You may have noticed an article about our Neighborhood in the City?’s Neighborhood Magazine again this month. It is nice to be recognized for our efforts!

Curb Painting Scam
It appears many of us were victims of a scam earlier this week. Flyers were taped to all of our houses asking us to have our house numbers painted on the curb as a part of our Neighborhood Watch Program. A call to the Jacksonville Sheriff?’s Office confirmed our suspicion that this was NOT a part of our newly implemented Neighborhood Watch Program, but rather a scam to get your twenty bucks. We sincerely apologize if you did this thinking you were helping us with our Neighborhood Watch. We advise those of you who were scammed to file a complaint with the State Attorney?’s Office. Twenty Dollars is a lot of money for painting a number on the curb. (For just $25, you can become a member of your Neighborhood Association!)

Neighborhood Watch Signs Are Up!
Special thanks to Jody Kirkland and Arland Eyl for volunteering their time and energy to installing our Neighborhood Watch signs. Don?’t they look great?

Proposed Zoning Change E-00-149
A petition is circulating to oppose zoning exception E-00-149. The applicant has applied for a zoning exception that would allow a 200-seat restaurant/bar at the corner of Cobblestone Parkway and Monument Road (in the strip mall next to Cliff?’s) We are opposing this exception because we do not feel the neighborhood needs another bar. Excessive noise from Cliff?’s is already causing problems for residents whose property abuts the shopping center.

SHADCO
Several of us have been attending Sheriff?’s Advisory Council meetings monthly. This is an important link between community members and the Police. These meetings are very enjoyable and informative and our involvement is vital to ensuring regular patrolling of our area. All of you are invited and encouraged to attend to represent our neighborhood. The next Shadco meeting will be November 30th at 7 p.m. at Landmark Middle School. Please make plans to attend!

CPAC
The Greater Arlington/Beaches CPAC (Citizen?’s Planning Advisory Committee) is another vital link between neighborhoods and city government. These informative meetings include discussions on everything from School Board issues to Parks & Recreation. Representatives from many of our City Departments are present at these meetings to address your concerns about road improvements, crime & safety, zoning, grants, and transportation....just to name a few. Please attend these meetings to have a voice in issues that concern our neighborhood! The next CPAC meeting will be November 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Regency Mall. As always, all community events can be found on our website, www.neighborhoodlink.com

TOWN MEETING WAS HELD
A Town Meeting was held recently to discuss proposed changes to the District 2 Regional Park at the Dunes. Many neighborhood representatives voiced concern with the proposal, and it was decided to take it back to the drawing board. If you utilize this park and are concerned with the proposed changes, please make every effort to attend any related meetings so that you can have a voice!
You can also write a letter to our City councilwoman to express your feelings about the park.
