I hope you are all well. I am sending you this informal update on the happenings of Congresswoman Laura Richardson, D-37). The 37th Congressional District includes the cities of Carson, Compton, Long Beach, Signal Hill, Watts, and Willowbrook. Please spread the word to folks who may find these events or opportunities interesting. For your convenience, I attached a flier for each event.
- Friday, May 16th, Congresswoman Laura Richardson will be hosting our First Annual Senior Legislative Briefing and Luncheon. We are expecting about 500 seniors from throughout the 37th Congressional District for a day of legislative updates, health screenings, resources, entertainment and food. We have partnered with Supervisor Yvonne Burke and Supervisor Don Knabe to provide transportation for the seniors to the event.

- Saturday, May 17th, Congresswoman Richardson, Los Angeles County NeighborWorks and local area leaders are co-sponsoring a Foreclosure Prevention Fair at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Approved counseling and education agencies will be on hand to assist people with housing, credit and foreclosure prevention assistance.

- The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation has extended the deadline to accept applications for the Education and Cheerios Brand Health Initiative Scholarships. The deadline is now- Wednesday, March 28th. These scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergrads, and graduate students residing or attending school in the 37th Congressional District.
