Peace and Unity Parade

Long Beach will commemorate the memory of one of America’s greatest heroes, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, this month with the Peace & Unity Parade Celebration. The annual festival takes place on Saturday, January 15, 2011. At 10:30 a.m. the parade will step off from Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Anaheim Street and proceed north towards the park.

After the parade, the celebration will continue at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park with entertainment, food booths, craft and merchandise vendors. There will also be a children and teens area with games and rides. The festival in the park lasts from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The parade and festival is part of Peace Week in Long Beach, created by Councilman Dee Andrews in an effort to unify and to uplift the community. For more information on the Peace Week events call the Office of Councilman Dee Andrews at (562) 570-6816 or log on to longbeach.gov/district6.
