Hartley House at 413 West 46th Street

2. Moment of Silence for recently deceased residents- Hans Dudelheim (1/4/2007 and Joseph Camp (12/18/2006)
3. Reading of the Minutes of Prior Meeting
4. Reports of Officers
4.1. President?’s Report (Darrick Sampson)
4.1.1. Report on Restaurant Row Workgroup- Darrick reported that he has been working with representatives from the Times Square Alliance, NYC &Co. (our convention and visitor?’s bureau), Barbetta, Le Rivage, St. Lukes and Basini/ Connor Associates- a professional public relations firm- to help Restaurant Row achive its potential. The restaurants on Restaurant Row are a key constituent of the BlockAssociation and have served us well over the years by indirectly providing our funding through their baked goods donations for 20+ years.
In the workgroup?’s Wed, Jan 24th meeting, we decided to resurrect the former Restaurant Row Association.
Those present voted to direct the $500 donation from ?“The Ministers LLC?” Production to the Restaurant Row Association.
4.2. Vice President?’s Report (Allison Tupper)
4.3. Treasurer?’s Report (Steve Fanto)
4.4. Secretary?’s Report (Watty Strouss)
5. Unfinished Business
5.1. Suggestion to revisit parking changes on West 46th Street between Eighth and Tenth Avenues- dissastisfaction exists with a resident(s) and restaurant(s). We will discuss the process and changes that took place last year and decide if we need to request from CB4 and the Department of Transportation a reveral of these changes. Regardless of the result, the Block Association leadership anticipates some ?“lessons learned?” takeaways. We discussed the issue and agreed to raise enforcement issues at the Midtown North Police Precinct Community Council Meeting.
5.2. Alexandra Palmer Memorial Garden Sign- Funding has been received from Mary Clark ($100) and St. Luke?’s Lutheran Church ($400) for a proper sign to mark the location of the Alexandra Palmer Memorial Garden. We need someone to research our options for buying such a sign. Possible vendors include:
?• Partnership for Parks
?• New York City Department of Parks and recreation
?• Joe Restuccia JRestuccia2@clintonhousing.org (Christine Berthet)
?• Seffens Studio- Jim Seffens, 405 West 44th Street (Mary Clark)
?• David Korman offered to find some vendors
5.3. Mural Re-painting at the Matthews Palmer Playground- Hans researched options. A volunteer is needed to continue this research with collaboration from Watty Strouss- who met with the Parks Department last month. The latest is with Lokei Kaimana, Program Associate, Publicolor
6. New Business
6.1. Proposed Appropriation of $300 for Satisfying Notice Needs- the block association needs assistance with hanging notices for meetings immediately. The President?’s suggestion is to pay a neighborhood teenage $25 to distribute 50 notices in our jurisdiction. Community service programs like Midtown Community Courts are not ideal as posting these is actually not legal (and they will not do that). If a member would do this, it would be ideal!
7. Public Announcements
7.1. Press Conference and Rally- To introduce illegal hotels legislation: Sunday, February 11th at 1:00 p.m., NW Corner of 79th and Riverside Dr. (1 train to 79th St), RSVP to John Raskin: 212-716-1665. Rally co-sponsored by Housing Conservation Coordinators, the West Side SRO Law Project and the West Side Neighborhood Alliance.
8. Adjournment
