Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 7pm
Hartley House at 413 West 46th Street
1. Welcome and Introduction
2. Guest Speaker- Sean McGarr of 621 West 46th Street- A new club, with a roof deck, is being planned at 621 West 46th Street (across from PACHA). There was a hearing at the Community Board 4 Business, Licenses, and Permits Committee Meeting on April 10th. The Committee did not have a quorum but it appears they will recommend at the full Board meeting on May 1st that this liquor license be approved. The building is under construction today and the club is expected to be 9,000 square foot night club, with a total capacity of 480 people. The club will operate 7 days a week until 4am. It will have 2 floors and 3 bars. They intend to apply for a cabaret license. They plan to have both live music and DJ's. They plan to use outside promoters. The minimum age is 21. They plan to use their roof. The music is described as "mix of pop, 70's, 80's, 90's, No Rap, Heavy Metal, or Drum Bass". This new club will bring the saturation on this block to 3,300 people which is the equivalent of one of the club streets in Chelsea.
The membership voted and passed the following statement for CB4s consideration: For the record and consistent with our previous positions, the West 46th Street Block Association opposes not adhering to the 500 foot rule.?”
