This is the most serious crime in our area in some time - it just went out
on Afton Oaks alert system. You might spread the word.... Page
''We wanted to let you know that in the pre-dawn hour on Sunday morning there
was a robbery of a resident in the 4500 block of West Alabama. While the
resident was retrieving the newspaper, an armed male wearing a mask forced
his way into the home, inflicting injuries to the resident and her
spouse while robbing the home of certain valuables. Thankfully, the resident's injuries while serious -- were not life-threatening.
The resident called 911 and HPD responded quickly and is working the case.
While the neighborhood has had few such incidents through the years, we are
in an urban area and are not immune. Please continue to take all normal
precautions, and if you have information that might be helpful to this investigation, please call HPD (713-247-4400) or the Afton Oaks Patrol
(713-201-3535). If you have any questions, please reply or ask anyone on the AOCC Board (www.aftonoaks.org). Please pass along this information to
your neighbors, since only about 25% are currently on the e-mail list.''
The time was about 5:30am on Sunday morning. I don't have a detailed
description of the robber, but I understand it was a black male.
