I am getting my home ready to sell and thought I would have some time to put out the large trash items once a month. After September's pick-up, they (the Mayor's office) sends us a letter saying no more heavy trash days, other than tree limbs, etc., until JAN 2008. I was angry about this as there was no warning (and we habe to wait 3 Months. Now, no one answers the phone at the disposal sites and the closest one to us is over 16 miles away. There is not one in SW Houston. So I've called 311 2x to complain and found out we are one of only neighborhoods they are doing this too. I bet if it was in Memorial they would think twice. Anyway, my only recourse (unless we want to risk hurting out backs to put the heavy trash in the car ourselves and driving 32 miles Round-trip to dispose of it)or to get some service to come out and pay for them to haul it away. I prefer paying someone to take it if I can find someone that would only charge a nominal fee. Does anyone have a referral? There are only 3 large items at this point.
