WHY 311

- A LARGE PORTION of 911 CALLS ARE NOT TRUE EMERGENCIES

- MANY CALLS DO NOT REQUIRE AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE

- NON-EMERGENCY CALLS INTO 911 ADD TO THE CALL VOLUME FOR TRUE EMERGENCIES AND CREATE DELAYS IN POLICE RESPONSE FOR SERVICE

- INCREASED PUBLIC DEMANDS TO RESPOND TO ALL 911 CALLS, INCLUDING NON-EMERGENCIES

- INCREASED NUMBER OF CALLERS PLACED ON HOLD OR RECEIVE RECORDINGS DUE TO OVER FLOW OF CALLS

- PROVIDE CITIZENS WITH GREATER ACCESS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY SERVICES

- RELIEVE THE OVER BURDEN AND IMPROPER USE OF THE 911 SYSTEM

- RESTORE PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN PUBLIC SAFETY EFFORTS
