HOMELESSNESS ISSUES - ABOUT THE CANDIDATE:
Carl is a long time resident of Hawaii and has moved & lived in Chinatown/Downtown Honolulu for thirty-one years (31) and later Ma'kiki, Kaka‘ako, McCully, Mo‘ili‘il.
Carl SUPPORTS affordable housing, homes and apartment rentals.
Carl has always been a strong advocate to address homelessness issues.
Carl is AGAINST anything anti-small-business.
LEGISLATIVE PARTICIPATION:
In December 2003,
Carl authored the original Urination and Defecation Bill (HB 1828), also known as, "Carl's Shi-Shi Law", soon Waikiki will have that law, too
In June 2010 Carl was able to persuade the City and County of Honolulu to rehabilitate and repave
North King Street in Senate District 12.
Rail Transit – Yes, because the people voted for it.
Gay Marriage – No, because the people voted against it.
For the past Thirty-one (31) years Carl has researched legislative issues, wrote and submitted testimonies for legislation consideration, testified at many committee hearings, visited both Senate and House Chambers, to listened and observed the political process.
COMMUNITY & VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Was a volunteer at Institute for Human Services (IHS) (1981), River of Live Mission (ROLM) (1998) and Kau-Kau Wagon (2001), etc.
Attended and participated with the Chinatown/Downtown Neighborhood Board Thirteen (13) since February 1990; was elected to the Chinatown/Downtown board and has served from March 2005 to March 2010.
On July 3, 2008, Carl was elected Chinatown/Downtown Neighborhood Board Secretary.
