We have many homeowners with pets, some of which allow their loved ones to 'purge' on property they do not own or upkeep. We recently lost two trees in a row that soil samples pointed to dog urine as the culprit. I was surprised, but apparently this is a common cause when it is repeated day-in and day-out. The neighbors who allow their pets to poop on private property are plain flat rude. If you have to be told this, you have no business owning a 'domesticated' animal. Feces is a health risk that most homeowners with small children should avoid, not to mention the burden of having to clean up after someone else's pet. Also, other pets spread the feces by tracking it into a larger contamination area. We have found a possible solution by paying someone else to clean up the mess and giving the offending animal owner the bill. If they do not pay, then they can be sued in small claims court and are additionally liable for court costs, delivery service and up to 25% of the suit amount in attorney fees. It may not sound like a lot until you consider that most cleanup services treat feces as hazardous waste material. I am interested in hearing the views of others who have encountered this impropriety.

I think not all the offenders are the fault of our neighbors. We jog early in the morning and have come across wild dogs, skunks, possums and a armadillo. We were recently confronted by an agressive wild dog and my wife now carries mace just in case. The neighbors we've seen walking dogs are polite and don't seem to be causing any ''improprieties''.
