Warren Shores is probably the premier Planned Unit Development in Fort Collins. Located on the North shore of Warren Lake in the South East quadrant of the City of Fort Collins, its convenience to shopping, schools, entertainment and churches is unparalleled. Elementary, Jr. High and High Schools are all within walking distance as are grocery stores, movie theaters and the largest shopping mall in the area. Most are to be found within a radius of one mile.
In the midst of the development, because of its meticulously maintained greenbelts and their mature landscaping, you would never know that you were in the middle of a city of over one hundred thousand residents and its associated traffic and noise. Trees and shrubbery, introduced more than 20 years ago on berms along the streets bordering the north side of the development, have grown to provide a very effective sound barrier. Most are evergreens and thus are effective year around.
If you look across the greenbelt, toward the lake, Longs Peak rises out of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains presenting a majestic backdrop and a most spectacular view. The hundred year old cottonwood trees that line the lake shore are large enough so that they add to the scene and do not screen it from view. Canadian geese and Mallards float along the lake shore and squirrels jump from tree to tree. From time to time a red fox will trot by and at night raccoons will be seen traveling around looking for something to eat. Even Blue Herons and White Pelicans have made Warren Lake one of their favorite feeding grounds. The occasional Bald Eagle or Osprey that glides by adds even more interest for the resident. As a result, the residents of Warren Shores work together to preserve the Association and the beauty of the area for the common good.
