I don't know about you but I would enjoy seeing an East Wash Park "Clean the Alleys" Day. My alley has huge branches that are over grown (and scratch your car as you go by), stacks of garbage near the dumpsters (I guess Denver Public Works will not pick up any garbage that is not in the dumpster), grafitti, broken glass, etc. I do my best to clean up my area, but it seems that not many neighbors seem to care. Is there any way to promote cleaning the alleys in the East Wash Park Newsletter? Thanks!!!!

Flowers
I was actually thinking that it would be nice if I planted flowers/greenery that faced the alley only - since we all drive by it, just as we drive down the street. Has anyone done that? I also like your idea of a clean up the alley day.

Might increase garage use
Bravo! I like a clean-up-the-alley day. Whether or not it gets organized, I have begun to clean up the alley behind my house a little at a time (500 block of South Race). I know I am sinning by sneaking leaves into the dumpster, but I figure a small amount each week isn't too bad. Because of prevailing winds and gravity, I am actually cleaning up my across-the-alley neighbors' area, but who cares. I think the cleaner the alley, the more likely people are to use their garages, reducing parking on the street and making our neighborhood nicer.
