Trashy Yards & Alleys-Whats up??

Posted in: Washington Park East
Has anyone noticed lately that there are trashy yards popping up everywhere in Wash Park? I drove by one on E. Kentucky in East Wash Park and there was just dirt for a backyard as the family has like 5 dogs. I've seen cars parked (Or rather dropped off, as many don't have tags or tires) in alleys that are obviously junkers. I've seen broken glass in the alleys (does Public Works ever sweep the alleys??). I've seen mopeds/motorized scooters parked on people's front lawns., Etc. Etc. What's up with the Trailer Trash? Can anything be done?

I saw a few unsightly yards today. These people need to move to Aurora!

Just postedabout a similar issue

Hello. I just posted a message about filthy alleys and then noticed your posting. I agree with you 100%. For a neighborhood like ours, I think it's a disgrace that people don't care about things like that! I was walking down to the park the other day near Kentucky and Gilpin... a neighbor looks like he plans to keep his speed boat parked there (on Kentucky) for the winter... aren't there laws about this stuff? Our neighborhood needs some covenant laws established about trashy yards, abandoned cars, etc.

too much time on your hand

I think that the people that are posting this, have just a bit too much time on their hands. The reason that I live in Wash Park (for 12 years) is that I can do what I want to my house and not fear a covenent type contract. I think that if I saw someone peaking over my 7 foot fence to see what my backyard looks like, I would call the cops. I notice that there are yards that need help in our area, some on each street, but I will never be one to judge someone's personal problems. How do you know what is going on in his or her life. My wife was involved in a head on car colision 3 years ago and I was unable to car for the yard in addition to my child and my wife and a full time job. Granted, when my wife was better, I was out making the yard look much better, but at the time, it was the least of my worries. So, in closing, get a life, and if you worry so much about someone elses yard, just think about where we are lucky enough to live.
