Are you now (or have you ever been) a participant in the ?“Let?’s Talk About It?” discussion board in your neighborhood? You can make a difference in answering the question Does an online neighborhood web site help build a community? Washington Park East was selected to participate in an important research project because of its active participation in using the discussion board to talk about local issues and concerns.
Your participation in a University of Denver research project will contribute to understanding how web site technology works for neighborhood groups who want to improve their local area. That?’s what this study hopes to find out. Sharing your experience makes a difference in understanding how we can strengthen our local communities.
The study will compile information gathered from interviews with neighborhood participants who are actively involved in using the Neighborhood Link web site. The interview is a one-hour conversation that discusses your experience with community and using the discussion board. The interview is audio-taped. Your comments however are confidential and your name will not be used in any published document without your written consent.
You have been active in your community and working to make a difference. We hope that you will add your voice to the understanding of how we can encourage other communities to talk online and off. The conversational interviews will be facilitated by
Karen Lollar, a doctoral student in Human Communication Studies at the University of Denver. Information will be used for her doctoral dissertation. You can find out more about the research or say yes to participation by contacting Karen at klollar@du.edu or call and leave a message at 303-829-1104.
I look forward to meeting you and learning from you abut this important topic.
