Abandoned Vehicles in East WP

Posted in: Washington Park East
Does anyone else here get mad at the amount of neighbors in East Wash Park that use our streets to dump their vehicles such as boats, campers, or just a 3rd or 4th vehicle? I have called countless times to the Abandoned Vehicles hotline and then they send an officer to put a warning sticker on the car (cars must be moved every 2 days or so), and what happens? The neighbor moves the car to the alley for a day and then parks it right back on the street a few days later. Then it takes another 3 weeks for my call to reach an inspector. Why can't they just tow these vehicles and send a bill? If you want to see what I'm talking about, here's some vehicles parked in East Wash Park that have been there since September 2003. An ugly old blue pick up truck Dogde at Arizona/High - parked on High in front of the United Methodist preschool entrance. A white Dodge cargo van parked on Ohio inbetween Race and Vine. An old boat parked on Kentucky two blocks in from the park. I just don't understand why nobody else seems to care. It makes our neighborhood look junky. Please understand, I have no problem with a household that has 5 or more cars that move all the time. I'm talking about people who deliberately choose to ''board'' their cars on our city streets instead of garaging them somewhere. For all I know these cars belong to people in other cities and just know that they can get away with parking their cars in our neighborhood without consequenses. You'd never be able to park a boat on Dahlia Street in Cherry Hills Village for more than a day!!
