Residents Fight Pay Phones

Mar 21, 2000

A group of residents are working to address the illegal pay phones that have been installed in the community. These phones are often used by drug dealers to arrange their deals. The residents attended a Board of Estimates hearing on November 24,1999 addressing this issue.
The city had decided to re-evaluate the way in which pay phone permits are issued. Therefore, none of the illegal pay phones will be removed from the community until the city lawyers have completed this progress. Hopefully, there will be an update to this situation soon.
