WestSide Heights is a catch-all name for the various neighborhoods on the westside of manhattan from 96th Street to the Bronx line.

The most common historical neighborhoods are:

CB9M serves Morningside Heights, Manhattanville and Hamilton Heights.

Morningside Heights covers from 110th Street to 122nd Street from Saint Nicholas - Manhattan Avenues to the Hudson River.

Manhattanville cover from 122nd Street to 135th Street from Saint Nicholas Avenue to the Hudson River.

Hamilton Heights covers from 135th Street to 155th Street from Saint Nicholas Avenue to the Hundson River. There are three disticnt areas within Hamilton Heights:
Vinegar Hill, from 138 to 132nd on Amsterdam Avenue.
Sugar Hill, from 155th Street to 148th Street on Edgecombe Avenue on Coogan's Bluff, and
The Historic District from convent to Saint Nicholas and from 145th Street to 150th street

About our association

The WestSide Heights Citizens League

First established in 1988 as the Hamilton Club, an informal club composed of HDFC cooperatives in Hamilton Heights which became the core of the current organization in 1994 coincidental with the establishment of the City-wide HDFC Council.
The WSHts Citizens League has fostered through financial assistance the establishment of many of the small neighborhood and district-wide associations that address quality of life issues.

Fight for our communities

WestSide Heights Citizens League has been in the forefront of the fight to rescue Hamilton Heigths and Washington Heights from the clutches of the criminal elements that have possessioned themselves of our sidewalks and use them for their dirty businesses.

We were part of the community action groups that were able to get NYPD to address the drug issue by establishing the Northern Manhattan Initiative and multy departmental and multi-agency task force still working to eradicate the drug dealers from our communties.

Contextual Zoning

The WSHts Citizens League is one of the organizations promoting the idea of Contextual Zoning within Community Planning Boards 7, 9, 10 and 12.

Contextual Zoning insures that any new construction development meets the local architectural design and that new buildings do not exceed the current block's structural design and height, thus eliminating the possibility of tower-in-the-park designs ruining the esthetics and life quality of a neighborhood.
