Agenda/Topics
1) Welcome and Introductions: in attendance where Anne Kilponen, Neighborhood Planner; Shawn Spanier, President; Dan Connell, Vice President, Dana Russell, Secretary; and 7 neighbors
2) Neighborhood Watch Signs Finalization: Dan submitted the forms and money to Bolden Area Command’s Crime Prevention Specialist, Denise Stride. We’re awaiting a response and where the final Neighborhood Watch Signs will be placed. We need to ensure that those who have signed up to be Block Captains and Co-Captains meet and keep vigilance for this program. A side note: I attended McNeil’s NW meeting on Sept 8th. They have just started to mobilize due to a rash of burglaries. They created a decal for their cars to help identify those who don’t belong along with a mobile text messaging system for an all out alert.

3) Election of New Board Members at the Nov 14th Meeting – no one present volunteered.
4) September is “Disaster Preparedness” Month. (handouts provided). Be prepared with at least 3 days of food and water for each family member and pets. A resource: www.BePrepared.com
5) Public Comments
(This period is open to resident comments on neighborhood issues or concerns. Out of respect to all participants, please limit comments to no more than 5 minutes. Discussions requiring more time may be extended or can be requested to be addressed at future meetings)
Anne brought up that Ward 1 has set aside Oct 20th from 9am to 12 noon at Rotary Park as a day to Volunteer. The project is to clean up the Hinson Corridor from Hyde Park to Oakey as the School’s “Safe Route” for kids attending Vegas Verdes and Hyde Park. It Involves Lois’ Office, Clark County School District Police Dept and School Clubs. More to come on how to sign-up.
