10/3/99 Broomfield Problem

CVELG: can you get...

With all the pussyfooting with appeals and crap that BR is doing to delay you; these guys are definitely paranoid of being exposed, can you get an extension on the time period to sign petitions? Just started reading these boards, and BBW is a drunken football fan if he thinks he can sell his argument to me.

The first feasibility study did not show that taxes for Broomfield would be higher. Whoever told you it was kept a secret is a liar.
If you really have questions about what Larry Cooper said, why don't you ask him about it?
County attorneys do not make more money than city attorneys.
Actually, the idea of a city and county of Broomfield has been discussed in Broomfield for a very long time. Citizens leading the community vision process recommended a combined city and county to the city council. The council then placed a question on the 1996 ballot. The city attorney was the logical person to write the ballot question. Broomfield's voters voted 68% in favor of pursuing a city and county.
It seems that many of your perceptions are based on what Br. Anonymous has told you. He or she is entitled to their opinions. But, there are other opinions I think you should also consider.

Yee Haw!

I am glad to see someone else is not buying BBWs arguments.

Not to worry. Broomfield's delay tactics should not affect our time frame in collecting petition signatures. I believe we received reassurance on that from the Secretary of State's office.

Welcome Aboard

We love to have new opinions!

The re-hearing is happening tomorrow. Then, probably whatever the SS decides, BF will appeal to the Supreme Court for more changes... it's a delay tactic they may consider to their advantage. Personally, I don't see it a problem to us at all.

Then, when we finally end up with ballot wording... our 6 month time clock starts for getting signatures on petitions. Our time clock hasn't started yet - so there's really no reason to ask for any special consideration.
