10/1/99 Broomfield Problem

I agree that that the word "petty" is a relevant term. With all that Broomfield must do to become a combined city and county, CVELG's concerns do seem to be petty to me. I do not believe that Broomfield has harmed Country Estates residents or Superior's residents in any way.
I believe that Broomfield's leaders are highly ethical and have a tough job in preparing for a combined city and county. I think Broomfield is trying to do something for the betterment of local government. Something that just may benefit all of us by showing how local government services can be provided more effectively at a lower cost. I want to see Broomfield have the opportunity to do this.
You advised that you are concerned about how Broomfield is going about doing all of this to achieve its vision. I believe Broomfield's leaders are highly ethical. Even though you are not a Broomfield resident, Broomfield did listen to your concerns. The jail site was moved further away from Country Estates and will not have any negative impact on Superior. In my mind, this is being responsive and ethical.

You raised the question about the appeal. Here's what I found out. Broomfield is under the constitutional amendment to be a fully functioning combined city and county effective 11-15-01. This means that state mandated facilities including the jail and the court facilities must be in place and operational by 11-15-01. Broomfield needs to expend funds on these facilities in order to have them completed by the time Broomfield becomes a county. If CVELG's attempt to repeal Broomfield's county status is successful, Broomfield will look to the state to reimburse Broomfield all unrecovered costs spent by Broomfield for state mandates. The current ballot title does not say there could be financial impacts on the state and this is the primary reason for the appeal. Those asking for the appeal may be right or wrong, but this is their primary reason for the appeal.

Well you are so full of yourself and BF it makes me ill!! The FACT Mr. Wolf is that BF NEVER told Countryside residents about this proposed jail site. If they had, I think things would have gone a lot differently. And i'm sure the only reason they did move the site was because of CFFD NOT Westy CC, they DID NOTHING!! I DO NOT want a jail close to my home or my children, PERIOD!! It bothered me the way the prisioners would be released, BF has all these statistics from where, i'm not sure, but it still doesn't make me feel comfortable. And you will not change my mind about BF and Westy CC, they are all a bunch of arrogant jackasses (sorry) and if they all fell off the face of the earth tonight, it would be a happy day!!

Well gee whiz, why didn't i think of the feasibility study?? Remember, I have no political background, I DO NOT live in BF, I never heard of it until the election and even then I wasn't sure what it was about. As for newspaper articles, well I never saw them and I read the paper everyday, probably printed them in the Boulder paper, and we all know how biased that paper is!! I would trust BA over you any day of the week, quite frankly, you are really starting to get on my nerves. Its people like you that get this group motivated to repeal BF county status.
