I was recently having trouble with my dryer drying my clothes. I would always have to run the load into a second cycle th get them to dry. I called a repair man and he said the dryer was fine and that years of use had caused the vent line in the wall and attic to become clogged. The restricted airflow caused the dryer to lose its ability to dry and also was one of the highest reasons for home fires since the heat would back up into the dryer and ignite the lint buildup in and behind the dryer. He recommended a company called DRYER VENT WIZARD to come out and test my vent system. When they arrived they tested and confirmed that the airflow and heat level coming out of my vent were extremely low. They also found that I was using a white vinyl vent hose from my dryer to the wall and said that it was not up to code and an extreme fire hazard. They replaced it with a rigid metal type. After the cleaning I find that my dryer is working like new again. I am very happy and wanted to pass this along since I, and I think most people, never would have thought to have this done. Ultimately this cost me nearly $400. Compared to a new dryer, which I thought I needed, and compared to having my house burn down, I find this to be a very good investment in maintaining my home. With homes as old as ours I'm sure there are many of us that need this service. Now that I am aware of this I am telling everyone I can. To allow a house to burn down because of a clog in a dryer vent line to me seems absurd. If this happens to someone I know and I didn't take the time to warn them I'll feel like it is partly my fault. If they die in the fire, I'll never forgive myself.
