With summer upon us, many Fort Worth residents will be clearing out junk rooms and hosting a garage sale. 'Before setting out, ''Another man's treasure'' residents should be aware of city codes affecting garage sales. To avoid receiving a citation, ask yourself the following questions:
1. How many garage sale can I have a year? Only two per year
2. Do I have a permit for a garage sale? You must have one at least 72 hours before beginning you sale. Permits can be obtained free of charge from the Development Department or call 817-871-7851. You can find the garage sale form on our website.
3. Can I sell new items? The sale of new things obtained just for resale at a home is prohibited.
4. Where should I have my sale? On a patio or garage not all over the property.
5. How long can I have my sale? 3 days is the limit
6. Where do I put my sale signs?
You can only put them up on your property. It is a code violation to put them up anywhere else.
