Hello from the new president, me. Thanks for electing me, I think.
I want to thank Johnny Young for his hard work for the last two years.
Johnny did something that had not been done in a long time, he made the WLHNA work without total funding from the trust. This required a crazy amount of time and effort getting funding from gas companies and advertisers and neighborhood members.
In reality it is the reason I volunteered for this post. I think it is unrealistic that a volunteer for the role of president will step up if it requires the amount of work that Johnny did.(Again my hat is off to the guy.
And so here is what we are trying/have done about this problem.
1.At the WLHNA trust meeting Feb 13 it was discussed that getting volunteers without funding the neighborhood budget was probably not feasible for the long term. Thanks to Johnny's hard work, and by that I include all the people who worked to accomplish it, we have 1800.00 in the account and only needed about another 600.00 which was agreed upon. The concept of getting ready for next year was emphasized as it will be here soon unless the Myans are right.
2.A good chunk of the WLHNA budget dealt with the newsletter's printing and distribution. We are going to drastically alter this in accordance with last years example. Newsletters will be e-mailed to neighborhood members. Only those peolpe without e-mail will recieve hard copy.
3.Between now and the next newsletter Bonnie Buell, Damon Docksteder, Lucy Middlebrook, myself will be attempting to get a very accurate list of e-mails in a neighborhood data base. We will need your help! It is only a few weeks and the closer to accurate this database is the closer to acceptance it will get. Please send me your e-mail address to browndogjensen@gmail.com. I do not need spam or porn or more personal advice please.
4. I am going to be asking the Block captains to assist getting those who have not responded to the e-mail quest.
I am sure there is more stuff to say but I have written myself out and am ready for input. Be gentle but real. Bill
