CRIME REPORT; 08-04-10

      Good morning!!!!  The last twenty four hours have been busy for the Abilene Police Department.  Here are a few examples of calls that officers responded to:   Officer Craft responded to a vehicle burglary call in the 1500 block of Graham.  The victim stated an unknown suspect had entered the victim's unlocked vehicle and had taken a handgun and a radar detector.  The victim's loss was estimated at over $500.   Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division and the Child Advocacy Center conducted a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Saddlewood.  During the investigation, a 53 year old white male was found to be in possession of child pornography and was arrested on the second degree felony charge.   Finally, officers responded to an armed subject call in the 4300 block of Southwest Drive.  A 20 year old black male called 9-1-1 and stated he had found a gun inside a business and "wanted the news media to show up".  He called back later saying "it was a prank".  The subject was contacted and was found to be in possession of a BB gun.  He was arrested for False Alarm and Abuse of 9-1-1.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

    Good morning!!!!  Here are a few examples of incidents that APD officers responded to:   Officer Romero stopped a vehicle in the 5000 block of North 10th.  During the traffic stop, a police K-9 alerted on the vehicle.  During the subsequent investigation, a 21 year old white female was found to be in possession of a dangerous drug (Xanax) and was arrested.   Officer Davis stopped a vehicle in the 3300 block of Ambler.  A computer check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen.  The driver, a 20 year old black male, was arrested for state jail felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle.   Finally, Officer Hutchinson stopped a vehicle in the 4500 block of Buffalo Gap.  The driver, a 34 year old white female, was intoxicated.  She also had her 8 year old child with her.  The driver was arrested for state jail felony Driving While Intoxicated With a Child Passenger.  This incident is the 398th DWI in Abilene since January 1st.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

National Night out will be celebrated Oct. 5th, 2010!!

 

The state of Texas will celebrate National Night Out, Tuesday Oct 5, 2010.  Keeping in line with the rest of the state, Abilene Police Department, Taylor County Sheriffs Office and the local military will celebrate NNO on that date as well.  We are in the process of gathering ideas for the event and would appreciate any input you would like to provide.  If your Neighborhood Association or Neighborhood Watch has any suggestions, please feel free to share.

CRIME REPORT; 08-06-10

    Good morning!!!!!  The last twenty four hours have been busy for the Abilene Police Department.  Here are a few examples of their calls:   Detective Bailey contacted a subject in reference to several cases.  During the investigation, the 57 year old white female was linked to several offenses and was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation, state jail felony Theft, and state jail felony Forgery.   Officer Garrett responded to a disturbance call in the 700 block of South Pioneer.  Officer Garrett contacted a 22 year old hispanic male who was involved in the disturbance.  A computer check of the subject's information revealed an outstanding parole revocation warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.  The subject was arrested for the warrant.   Officer Plato stopped a vehicle in the 3200 block of South 14th.  The driver, a 54 year old black male, was intoxicated and was arrested for third degree felony Driving While Intoxicated.  The subject had two prior convictions for DWI.  This incident is the 399th DWI in Abilene since January 1st.   Finally, we would like to send our condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers for their loss of DPS Agent Kevin Massey.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
