CRIME REPORT; 08-17-10

    Good morning!!!!!  Here are a few examples of calls your police department responded to over the last twenty four hours.   Officer Valdez responded to a vehicle burglary call in the 400 block of Green.  The victim stated he came home and caught a 16 year old male, an 18 year old male, and a 19 year old male  who were burglarizing the victim's vehicle.  The two older subjects fled the scene in a vehicle.  The 16 year old male ran on foot and was caught.  The subject had an outstanding warrant for burglary and was arrested for the warrant and for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.   Officer Joeris responded to a vehicle burglary call in the 400 block of Riverside.  The victim stated an unknown suspect had entered the victim's vehicle through a rolled down window and took a GPS and a set of keys.  The victim's loss was estimated at $155 and a report was worked for Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.   Over the last several weeks, thieves have been targeting vehicles with GPS systems in plain sight.  When you leave your vehicle, secure your valuables, including GPS systems and other frequently stolen items, in the trunk.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

CRIME REPORT; 08-18-10

  Good morning!!!!!  Here are a few examples of the calls your police department responded to over the last twenty four hours.   Detective Ramirez contacted a 27 year old male in reference to a residential burglary investigation.  The subject had two outstanding warrants and was arrested on those charges in addition to Burglary of a Habitation.   Agents of the Special Operations Division stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of East North 7th.  During the traffic stop, a police K-9 alerted on the vehicle.  During the subsequent investigation, the driver, a 58 year old male, had approximately 2.9 grams of crack cocaine with him, as well as marijuana.  The subject was arrested for Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone and for Possession of Marijuana.    Finally, Officer Hall stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of North LaSalle.  During the stop, the driver, a 25 year old male, was found to be in possession of four ecstasy pills and was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.

CRIME REPORT; 8/19/2010

   

Officers of the Abilene Police Department have responded to many calls over the past 24 hours. Here are some examples:

 

 At about 2:00pm yesterday afternoon, Officer Joel Harris contacted a 27 year old white female at a south side residence regarding some outstanding warrants. This female was taken into custody and charged with Probation Violation (Theft), Felony Theft, Misdemeanor Theft, and Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief.

 

At about 9:00pm, Officer Alfred Dixon made a routine traffic stop in the 1600 block of S. 11th St. Officer Dixon detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. Subsequent investigation revealed marijuana cigarettes and a baggie of marijuana in the vehicle. A 33 year old Hispanic male was arrested and charged with class “B” Possession of marijuana.

 

Finally, at about 12:45 this morning, Officer Poyner stopped a car in the 1300 block of Andy for a traffic violation. Upon contacting the driver, a 25 year old Hispanic female, the driver advised Officer Poyner that she could not drive anymore because she had had too much to drink. After failing field sobriety tests, she was taken into custody for DWI and was also charged with a Possession of Marijuana after marijuana was found in her purse.

CRIME REPORT; 08-20-10

      Good morning!!!!  Your police department has been busy.  Here are a few examples:   Officer Romero and Officer Davis stopped a vehicle in the 1800 block of North Treadaway.  During the traffic stop, Officer Romero spoke with a 27 year old female passenger who had stepped out of the vehicle.  As he approached her, Officer Romero saw the subject unzip her pants and drop a handgun on the ground.  The subject also lied about the identity of another passenger in the vehicle.  The female was arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Hindering Apprehension.   Officer Hutchinson approached a vehicle that was violating the park curfew ordinance at Kirby Lake park.  As Officer Hutchinson approached the vehicle and turned on his overhead emergency lights, the vehicle sped away.  Officer Hutchinson was able to get the vehicle stopped inside the park.  The driver, a 48 year old male, was very intoxicated due to the ingestion of methamphetamine and was arrested.  He had a prior conviction for DWI. The subject was charged with state jail felony Evading,  class A misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated, and Violation of Park Curfew.   Finally, Officer Farley stopped a vehicle in the 2300 block of South Treadaway.  The driver, a 23 year old male, was intoxicated and gave a false name and date of birth.  The subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While License Invalid, Failure To Identify, and for two outstanding warrants.  The male submitted a breath sample that was almost two and a half times above the legal limit.  This incident is the 423rd DWI in Abilene since January 1st.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.
