CRIME REPORT; 09-16-10

      Good morning!!!!!  Here are a few examples of the calls for the last twenty four hours.   Officer Thompson responded to a vehicle accident in the 2400 block of South 7th.  Officer Thompson contacted one of the drivers, who was a 47 year old male.  The subject was intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated With an Accident.  The subject was also found to be in possession of marijuana and was charged with that offense as well. This incident is the 476th DWI in Abilene since January 1st.   Officers of the Responsive Intelligence Division investigated a business burglary.  The officers contacted a 45 year old male suspect in the 1300 block of South 7th and arrested him for Burglary of a Building.  The suspect is also believed to be involved in another commercial burglary and that investigation is still on-going.   We would like to express our support for the Abilene High Eagles as they take on the team from Florida.  Give them a Texas-sized welcome.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.  

CRIME REPORT; 09-17-10

    Good morning!!!!  Here are a few examples of the incidents for the last twenty four hours.   Officer Adkins stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of South Judge Ely.  The driver, a 19 year old male, had an outstanding warrant for a motion to revoke his probation. The subject was arrested and was also cited for driving without a valid driver's license, disregarding a stop sign, operating an unregistered vehicle on the roadway, and for failure to maintain financial responsibility.   Officer Walker stopped a vehicle in the 1700 block of North 11th.  The driver, a 24 year old male, was intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.  He provided a breath sample that was more than double the legal limit.  This incident is the 477th DWI in Abilene since January 1st.   Congratulations to the Abilene High Eagles on your victory over the team from Florida!  You represented yourselves and the city of Abilene very well.   Enjoy this weekend's activities, including the other area football games, the West Texas Fair, and all of the other events this area has to offer.  Please be responsible; don't drink and drive.   For the Abilene Police Department, this is Sgt Keith Shackleford.
