For the April 22nd Channin Civic Association meeting, I would like to put out a request for any resident interested to assist me with the oil proposal group.
Last year, for those residents with oil heat, we requested local oil companies to propose a price plan for a bulk of our residents. In a month or two, we had two companies competing for business and Diamond Delchester offered a $1.149 price protection and a discount on a service plan. For this season, some companies offered individual residents between $1.299 to $1.599. Personally, I enjoyed saving money this year when prices started increasing on the oil markets. My fear is they will continue to spike with OPEC cutting production.
My goal this year is to put out a request for proposals (RFP) from the various oil companies and have residents work together to look over the proposals and make a recommendation to the oil purchasing residents. In the end, each resident will have to decide whether or not to take advantage of the recommendation, as was the case this past season.
Ultimately, I hope we can work together to keep the prices low for our residents. I would also like to explore working with Northminster's civic association to see if they would be interested in joining this.
