During this Christmas season many families will be considering what to purchase for their pets for Christmas. In contrast, many families will be wondering what to do with the dog or cat that has become a part of their family for many years. This year we have seen an economic downturn like no other. Many families with pets are probably wondering if they can afford the heart and worm monthly dosage. Can they afford the cost of pet foods? If the house pet becomes ill, can the household budget afford the cost of medical treatment? There are several options to these concerns. Ordering monthly medications online are usually at a lower cost. Transition your high cost pet foods to a low cost-high quality pet food may be something to consider. Animal insurance may alleviate the high cost of medical treatment. A bi-monthly rather than monthly ritual of grooming may also be something to consider. You may even want to consider a temporary shelter for your pet.
The Yellow Pages provides contact information of many animal sites that can provide assistance. There are several animal shelters in close proximity to Windstone Colony. You may be able to house your pet for a limited number of days until you are able to secure it back in the home. The more popular sites are the SPCA and the Human Society. Both places may be able to house your pet if you cannot afford to do so. However, it would not surprise me if these two sites are full to capacity. There are several facilities that can assist you with health care issues at minimal cost located in the Houston area.
What a difference a year can make for many families. The economic situation for this holiday season does not need to be a situation of do I, or don’t I maintain my household pet. If your pet is anything like mine, you will make the sacrifice to keep it healthy and in your home.
