This month customers of California-American Water Company began paying almost 26% more for their water; and next year, we will be paying 25.5% more than this year!

In 2003, I protested against Cal-Am's proposed 62% increases for the years 2003 and 2004, but to no avail.  The PUC allowed these increased water charges.  Concerning our current increases, I did not receive any notification that our water rates were going up again or that public meetings were to be held.  Did you?

Does anyone out there know what we can do as a community to fight this huge conglomerate that owns our water?  They are a monopoly and own a resource that is vital to our existence.  How can we protect ourselved from them continuing to ask for and get these horrific increases.
