I was coming home from work this morning and happened to notice one of my neighbors automatic water sprinklers was going, so I decided to see how many others were on. Upon my drive through a few other streets I noticed about 5-6 other homeowners also had their sprinklers on. Granted most nights it wouldn't have caught me off-guard, but seeing how the temperature right now is a mere 48 degrees it seems like a water waste. Shouln't there be a minimum temperature requirement for auto sprinklers to operate? If not, then why are there specific requirements for where solar panels can go on a home. If some people want to waste water and others want to save money, why should it matter where we place our solar panels when others want to waste water. Is there not less water than there is sunlight? If I want to save money and use natural resources then why should I be forced to do it in such a specific manner, but if others want to water their yards in 48 degree weather with a strong wind and drizzling outside they can do as they please? It seems to me that those who want to use the natural resources are being scrutinized while those that waste under the radar when no one is looking are reaping all the benefits. Maybe I'm just too young to understand, even though my family was one of the first families to move in here in 1986, or maybe those that oversee all this are just set in their ways and only look with blinders on. Either way it seems a bit humorous and ironic that those of us who actually follow these HOA "rules" are the only ones that ever get punished.
