Rash of plantings and wreaths stolen

Posted in: Woodlawn Heights Taxpayers

Over the past week (May 31-June4) there has been a rash of stolen plants (hanging and on porches) plus wreaths attached to doors, as well as other garden ornaments on East 238th Street as well as Martha Ave.  There may have been more but these are ones that we know about.  Besides keeping Woodlawn beautiful, it is upsetting that someone has actually violated our privacy by walking up our steps and taken these items.

How do we counteract these distrubing acts of invasion and theft?  It has been proven that petty crime often leads to larger crimes.  Let's keep Woodlawn safe.  The question is how - NYPD at the 47th Pct has told us that they are fighting shootings and violent crimes in the area the Pct covers, as well as being understaffed.  An occasional drive through our streets overnight would obviously help a great deal.  Suggestions?

Hopefully, these petty acts of deviants have stopped.

Its always an outrage no matter how small the crime.  However, lets ensure that these are counted, by contacting 311 and placing the complaint in their system, so that the statistics are correct.

The next meeting of the Taxpayers Association is on Monday, September 14th at 7:00PM, in the St. Barnabas High School Cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you there.

Please ensure that after placing 311 calls, you keep the reference number associated, and present it to the Association.  We can also follow up and ensure our voice is heard.
