I too am very disapointed with the outcome of the most recent council meeting regarding the trees on Beechwood Road. No one was aware that a vote would take place that night with limited discussion and much less evidence to support the need to have a MASS removal of the tree line. And even still a plan for the landscaping that would follow has not been submitted or approved, much less discussed personally with the residents of Beechwood Road/Orchid Place. Aren't we the ones directly affected by this! And who are we kidding to think that this job could get adequately done for $20,000!? What will $8,000 do for re-landscaping of over a FOOTBALL FIELD AND A HALF of tree line! I am very disappointed with such a sloppy vote and I am disappointed that a vote was ''snuck in'' on the agenda. This issue of such magnitude is one that written evidence and facts should have been presented, discussion held, and more detailed plans for the propsed aftermath available with a vote at next month's council meeting following (if all information was even available at that time)! My trust in the mayor and some of the council memebers and the respect for the procedure of these council meetings has certainly be jolted.
Alarmed with the tree vote!!

What are the facts
I have to say that upon hearing about the vote at the last council meeting I couldn't believe that a vote could pass for the TOTAL removel of the tree line in front of Beechwood Road and Orchid Place. Prehaps you could explain to me where you found someone willing to do this removal and ''relandscape'' for the sum of 20,000.00+ dollars. Does that include new trees in place of the ones that took fifty plus years to grow there. What about stump removal? Will there be a new fence line behind the landscaping to replace the various types of fencing that already exist? I aslo noticed that there are three or four houses in the Orchid Place sub division that are currently for sale. How is this plowing down of the trees and replanting of low grade landscaping going to effect there resale value, and the value of those on Beechwood Road? It seem to me that the Mayor and Council have alot of Questions to answer that should have been thought thorugh before a vote even took place. It also occures to me that the residents of W.P. should have been informed on thses issues. Especially when so much of our budget is being spent. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there a special meeting called when the city decide to purchase a vacent house in the neighborhood and transform it into a city hall? My point is this. I feel that as our elected officals we have intrusted in you the council and Mayor to be straight forward and honest in rational decisions with the input of the community. Whith that said, when I look at the web site and see only a mention of ''Tree Trimming and Cleanup'' I trust that it is just that. There was never a mention of total removal in the minutes of the last meeting, or as far as I can tell in any of the past months minutes. I agree with the previous post there was indeed a ''Sneek in Vote''. I would think that anyone with genuine interest and concern for our township would want to inform the residents of such a drastic measure, and would welcome the communties input. I think that this issue should be revisited with the support of our communtiy at the next council meeting and would encourage anyone courerned to do the same. I love where I |

Beechwood Road Tree Line
During the August meeting, an overview packet was distributed to council and guests. Guests included residents from both sides of Beechwood Road. Copies are available upon request. Estimated costs were reviewed for three options of addressing the continuing concerns and complaints that this council has received on this matter over the past four months. There was a lot of debate before a motion and vote was taken. Minutes of the August meeting will be posted after approval. A project design plan, project schedule and final cost estimate will be prepared before work will proceed. |
