I have lived in this neighborhood a little over a year and am disheartened by all of the complaining and negativity neighbors do on this board. The council is doing their best to make this neighborhood a safe place to live, but all they ever get is criticism. Personal attacks on council members - is that really necessary? It seems there is always someone mad about something and when you really look at it, most of the things complained about are small in the grand scheme of things. Is it really that bad to live in this neighborhood? Do you really have nothing better to do than to complain about everything?
I agree

Typical
What a shame it is in this day and age that some feel holding elected officials responsible for the decisions they make is somehow an uncharitable thing to do. I would never presume to assume that your issue is of no consequence and therefore unimportant. Why wouldn't you do the same for your neighbors? Along with the good parts of public service, you fill in the blanks here, come the more unpleasant. Some may feel that is kissing babies, speaking in public, and pardoning turkeys. However, if you ask anyone in public service, even a small city council like ours, I'm sure answering questions from constituents is not a surprise part of the job. To answer your question about living in the neighborhood, is it really that bad? Absolutely, definitely not. It's great! That's the point. Our system of government allows us the freedom to question, change, adjust, and proceed. That's not being un-neighborly or wasting your time. That's doing your duty as a citizen when you see things that trouble you or you feel are out of sync. The question is why aren't YOU? |

Not I!
I was recently suspected (by a friend!) of having written the above anonymous comment. Although I agree with it, and was happy to see such an intelligent reply, I was not the author. Anyone who knows me and has come across my postings on this site, knows that I believe in openness and always sign my name. I also believe strongly that personal attacks are out of order. We should have frank discussions on the issues; however, when the issue is the questionable behavior of a city official, it is fair game and should be brought to light as an issue, not as a personal attack. As ''anonymous'' writes, that's part of the privelege and responsibility of citizenship in the good ol' USA. Maybe we should have an ordinance that requires attendees to check their weapons at the door before Council meetings? |

I missed that part....
The one that says in the good ole US that you have the right to go online and publicly slander your elected government officials without any proof, just accusations. Take it to the council meeting, leave it off this message board. Maybe then they can at least defend themselves. |
