A word to the Mayor

Posted in: Woodlawn Park
Mayor Robertson, I will give you credit for some good changes in our city over the last two years. However, after attending numerous council meetings and the city town meeting, I have seen you change from a team player that communicated well in the beginning of your term, to a self absorbed individual on a power trip. City Hall has become an obsession with you while streets in the city go unrepaired along with other needs. If anyone does come to a meeting which you advise and they disagree with you, they are spoke down to and you short fuse is exposed. 221 residents voted against you and will continue to watch you.

You preach, ''operation, communication and beautification''. However, you do very little communication on your part. As a resident I am concerned about this.
I hope that the people that I have voted in as our council will monitor your activities closely.

Time to make some wine

Sounds like sour grapes and politics to me. The road near me was re-paved this summer and I have not run into a pothole anywhere in our neighborhood. I read the meeting minutes and it looks like the mayor has been managing the city and the council is involved in city activities, including approving the expenses for the city hall. They are working together and doing their jobs.

The election is over, it's time to get behind the elected officials in place to support and guide them in what this city needs. These politically motivated and esoteric personal attacks have no place in our community.

Free to say what I believe

I have the right to say what I believe just as you do. A citizen can keep a watch on the elected officials. You go make your wine and I'll continue to attend council meetings and support the council, not our Mayor.

A word from the Mayor

I appreciate the positive feedback and acknowledge the council and I have worked through some heavily divided issues over the past several months. Some of the debates may have gotten a little heated. With that being said, I believe the democratic process was followed and we have moved toward resolutions on many of them. Woodlawn Park is fortunate to have a council that has been willing to work through these challenges and to provide a focus on the betterment of our city with me. I will continue to do my best to motivate and enable these team players. I hope you keep coming to the meetings and supporting your city.

As far as the city house, things are finally starting to materialize. It should again be noted that your council approved the renovation as a line item in the FY06/07 budget. We are going back over the individual improvement activities and associated costs at the council meetings as the renovation proceeds. The funds being utilized for the renovation are not affecting roads or other city services.
