Does anyone know if we have any plans to update our street signs any time soon? We look as if we are frozen in time. An update to our signs would really enhance the look of the neighboorhood.

Street signs
The green street signs are maintained by Louisvlle/metro and there are no plans to update them. There will be new signage/entrances along the Wesport Road corridor done in conjunction with the widening project. By Scott Horn |

So dated!
Our street signs are so dated! Take a look at Windy Hills and Richlawn, for example. Can't we as a city update our look? I felt sure that the entrances would be updated since they will be destroyed with the Westport Road construction. I asked only if there were plans for the street signs in Woodlawn Park. Let's step forward, update our neighborhood. We have no problem spending money on a city hall that we really don't need. Spread some of the money around! |

That's a lot of money...
I would look at costs before jumping in saying things about updating street signs. The cost of a basic street sign that looks just like the current ones is $83. Here are all of the intersections within Woodlawn Park requiring a sign: 1)Ambridge Cir and Westport Rd. (2) 2)Walser Rd and Westport Rd. (2) 3)Westport Ter. and Westport Rd. (2) 4)Beechwood Rd and Westport Rd. (2) 5)Ahland Rd and Westport Rd. (2) 6)Perryman Rd and Westport Rd. (2) 7)Schuwey Ct. and Perryman Rd (2) 8)Stivers Rd. and Westport Ter (2) 9)Perryman Rd and Westport Ter (2) 10)Ahland Rd and Westport Ter (2) 11)Beechwood Rd and Westport Ter (2) 12)Stivers Rd and Dabrook Rd (2) 13)Stivers Rd and Stivers Ct (2) 14)Stivers Rd and Ahland Rd (2) 15)Ahland Rd and Darbrook (2) 16)Perryman Rd and Darbrook (2) 17)Beechwood Rd and Darbrook Rd (2) 18)Beechwood Rd and Orchid Hill (2) 19)Orchid Hill and Cattelya Ct (2) 20)Beechwood Rd and Kinloch Rd (2) 21)Walser Rd and Wingate Rd (2) 22)Walser Rd and Alicent Rd (4) 23)Walser Rd and Kinloch Rd (4) 24)Walser Rd and Green Meadow Circle(2) 25)Green Meadow Circle and Grn Mdw Ct (2) That's 54 street signs...if you just put new ones in that look like the old ones, that totals $4500 without replacing the rusty posts. The custom, iron cast signs you speak of in the other cities ballpark from some websites I saw selling them @ $200 each. That would be just shy of $11,000. This also does not take into consideration replacing the metal poles they are attached to or installation. Decorator posts to match the signs cost $30-$50. That's another $1600-2600. I'm not opposed to updating them, but if something isn't broken why fix it? I could understand doing this in fazes over 3-5 years but I wouldn't expect a 100% makeover this year. This is a large ticket item to be put in the budget. |
