Yard Advertisements/Flags

Posted in: Woodlawn Park
I was talking to some neighbors out in the street earlier this afternoon and the subject came up of the advertisements/flags that were set in each yard today.

Now, I do not know Jim and Becky Ritz but I do know they seem to be very civic minded, and the flags are very generous. But questions were raised and I thought a discussion may be helpful. Here are a few that were raised between my neighbors and myself:

1. Are the flags a business deduction?
2. Should that matter?
3. Do they have a permit?
4. Why attach the business cards?
5. Is there a conflict of interest here?
6. May I place ads in yards?
7. Is it okay to place things in other peoples yards?

So what are your thoughts?

I goofed

It's Bill Ritz, not Jim. Sorry.

I was quite angry when I came home and found one of these flags in my yard. If I wanted a flag in my yard, I would put one there. This certainly seems like a violation of the No Soliciting ordinance, and I think that the Ritz' are on the City Council. This certainly seems like an impropriety to me.

sorry for sounding mad

While I stand by my original post, I do want to apologize if it sounded mean. I think that one of the main problems with this website is the sniping/accusations lobbied about, and I don't want to be a part of that.
