Community Planner?’s Report: none
Guest Speakers

* Commander Billy Quach and Lt. Bob Smith of the West Division gave current crime statistics: violent crime is down while robberies, mainly street robberies, are up: IPODS, cell phones are targeted. Also, requested volunteers for Safe Passage pilot program for school children in elementary and middle school. There is now increased problem with the safety of middle schoolers. Call Cmdr Quach at 570-3563 or email him (or any of his command staff) for more info on the Safe Passage program.Billy_quach@longbeach.gov). Q&A involved questions regarding the recent homicide in Wrigley and problems with dispatch. Cmdr Quach suggested if we have problems with dispatch; demand to speak to a sergeant.
* Melanie Smith and Irene Payan explained the I-710 Long Beach Livable Community Plan. A grant targeted to develop quality of life improvements for the Neighborhood. Will hold four neighborhood workshops. Are compiling maps on what is going on in neighborhoods. Quality of landscape, street crossings, pedestrian use, bikeways. Joan Greenwood suggested that the 20 acre oil operator site needs to be procured.
* Dee Andrews, 6th district Councilman, congratulated Wrigley on its outstanding Movie in the Park ?– Summer Fest. Invited all resident to the opening of the new Mark Twain library at Walnut & Anaheim. His council office is now open.
* Tonia Reyes-Uranga, 7th district Councilwoman: she is on AQMD and is requesting an air quality component in the city?’s General Plan. Please come to the budget hearings. Requested names of youth who may be interested in joining the 7th District Youth Council; contact her office.

CPAC Report & Pacific Avenue: Greenfeld-Wisner Multimedia Associates presented to CPAC for electronic signs; CPAC voted down digital signs. Shoreline Gateway project presentation was very impressive. Next Pacific Avenue presentation by consultants is scheduled for August 23rd at 6 pm.

Legal Committee Report: McKiernan. There has been approximately $3600 in billings since March, 2007. Most recently, the board had the Association lawyer, Pam Swindells, send a letter demanding Wrigley Association records being held by attorney Wade Miller.

Treasurer?’s Report: Greenfeld-Wisner, new format with cover sheet. Total Wrigley Association funds are $5,997.10; $699.97 are restricted to 1) Landscape $226.47 2) Sign Fund $226.00 3) Christmas Tree Lane $247.50.

Neighborhood Pride: Herman. Summer Fest was a big success and hope to make it an annual event and included support from Better Balance Long Beach (BBLB), Neighborhood Advisory Group (NAG), Wrigley Moms, Wrigley business community. 300 hot dogs were served and business donations totaled $1700.

Tree Committee: Lisa Wiebrod, Brenda Martinez. The first 150 trees will be planted Sat.. November 3, 9 a.m. Meet at Daisy Ave and Hill St. Volunteers are needed. A fundraiser will be held Sunday, September 9 at the Puka Bar. Contact Lisa or Brenda at wrigleyisgoinggreen@hotmail.com

Next meeting is Sept. 10, with Mario Cordero, President of the Harbor Commission will speak on Port Pollution and Security.

Next Wrigley co-sponsored event is Halloween in Veteran?’s Park on Oct 31.

Long Beach Armada provided tickets for August 15th game at Blair field, to be used as fundraiser.

Wrigley Classic fun run is scheduled for Spring, 2008.
