No offense to our fine Policemen, but lets face it, Wyandotte isn't really teeming with violent, gun-toting criminals eager to slay an officer. I am sure it is one of the safest communities to be an officer in.

WDPD Contract

No offense to our fine stateman but it appears that you and your family sleep safe at night due to the efforts and sacrifice of our fine policemen.

''lets face it, Wyandotte isn't really teeming with violent, gun-toting criminals eager to slay an officer''...an unbelieveable statement...

Wyandotte is a great city, we should all be very proud of her..however for you to implicate that Wyandotte is without crime or criminals that would cause harm to one of our officers is beyond commons sense and reality.

My partners and myself have taken an oath to uphold the laws of the State of Michigan and the City of Wyandotte. When the call comes in I do not know of one officer that pauses to think...hmm...lets see...no raise...I am going to think about this before I go on this run...

There isn't one officer there that would not willingly risk his or her life for the citizens of Wyandotte...and that as we say, ''the ultimate sacrifice'' can come at any moment, day or night and usualy does without warning.

Ever been to a funeral for an officer who died in the line of duty? Try it sometime...an experience you will never forget...I have attended to to many in my career here...

Again, while Wyandotte is a great city, we (speaking as a profession) work in some of the most unreasonable conditions while our family sacrifices and while you and yours are enjoying benefits and privileges not afforded to those of us employed in the public service.

When was the last time you entered into a large bar fight or were sent into someone's residence on a domestic fight?

You have no idea as to the inherent hazzards encountered on runs such as this...and we are expected to know them all.

Making traffic stops at all hours of the day and night in every kind of weather known to man is another favorite of mine...I know each person that passes thru our fine city is of the most highest integrity and cleanest criminal history...no one has a gun or knife, drugs, warrants, suspended license or possibly just comitted a crime in another city that I am unaware of.

Three very small areas we deal with on a daily basis and have to be concerned with inregards to our constant safety...no wonder why Police Officers become paranoid and cynnical towards the end of their career.

We do not ask for much, honestly...our typcal raise is pennies on the dollar (when we get one)...unlike employment in the private areas who often see large raises based on production and revenue.

While a raise is always nice, other areas of our contract are just as if not more important...so it's not always about the buck...or lack of it.

Wyandotte IS one of the safest communities to be an officer in...and that comes from the hard work WE put in each day, 365/24-7.

We dont want to get rich...just on comparison with other departments and catch up to inflation.
