Start with the basics
I know you are aiming at creative and new events but I think it cannot be said enough that the shop keepers amd their personnel need better customer skills. I am again perplexed at the rude behavior of a few of the women who work in a high profile womens' shop in downtown. Also, I reviisted a chain 24/7 store reluctantly, only to find the same people working there still talking on the phone while they wait on customers, and I had to put my own Sunday paper together. Weird.

i,m getting tired of saying this but i will 1 more time, wyandotte used to be a cool city back in the 70,s and early 80,s but will never be one again. untill it developes a night life down town will never survive. people want all these business to come in and spend there $$, but only on the citizens terms. look at what daily is going through in last weeks council meeting over all the $$ he is putting into fort and eureka. everyone is bawling there eyes out over a small parking lot and the owners of the car wash are a hoot complaining about people walking across there property to get to the new walgreens, did they ever stop and think that just maybe there business might pick up because of the traffic in the area. wyandotte wants the business to come only to deal with them in a way that would make hitler proud. everytime wyandotte does get a booming business they run them out of town just like they did with all the festivals at the yach arena. the citizens of this city must relize you have to give a little to get a little. my wife just told me the other day that she fears with in the next 10 years our downtown will look like delray. well i hate to admit it, but i think i will have to agree with her on that. so a cool city, yup it once was. but the way all the citizens piss and moan now days it will never be one again. as the ole saying goes everyone wants more prisons, just as long as you dont build them in my neighborhood. dittos

We had the Gus Macker
basketball tournament here one year. They blocked off downtown just like they did for the street fair. HUNDREDS of people came downtown to play and to watch....It was an awesome set up. But that was it. Gus Macker either wasn't invited back or opted to leave...

Commander is right..
The best line was ''on citizens terms''. When you look at what Daley is going through, what the Southshore Grill went through last summer, Dannys Foods, Southend Station, and the Auto Repair shop on Fort and Cedar not to mention the Fireworks, Country Hoedown and Gus Macker....is it a mystery as to why businesses might hesitate to locate here? Businessmen are a fraternity and word gets around fast, very fast, as to what communities are business friendly and which aren't.
