Playing tag just isn't the same as when we were kids.
I'm not sure which is stupider. The tag-a-bag program or the continued debate year after year after year and so on.
Limiting the amount of trash you can dispose of weekly is a good idea. Especially if it means saving money. But why can't we do that without a tag?
It just doesn't make sense to me that I'm attaching this tag to my trash only to throw it away. What a waste!
It has to cost the city money to print and distribute the 'free' tags. The paper, the print, and the postage to mail these tags twice a year to every single residence. I don't imagine someone is doing this free. Someone is being paid for their time that it takes to print, sort, package and get them to the post office. Being paid from the city.
One of the biggest complaints I hear from everyone is getting the tag on their trash on trash day.
Why not allow each residence one trash can per week?....no tags! Take the money the city would save by not printing and distributing the current free tag and allow a second trash can without a tag. That would allow each residence 2 trash cans with no hassles of getting the tags on. Continue with the twice a year no limits on how much trash you can dispose. If a resident has more than the 2 allowed cans they can purchase a tag then. But since we're getting 2 tags a week right now, why not eliminate the tags all together. The savings from not printing and distributing 2 tags would allow each residence 3 cans.
Is there nothing simple about that?
