The reason is nothing has been showing up on crimemapping.com. I contacted my last CMPD contact for the data entry and did not hear back. I then decided to reach out to Crimemapping.com. I got a disappointing response that CMPD is no longer particpating in the program? What? CMPD has been on that site for more than 20 years. I personally look at it just about every moring because I want to know what is going on in our area. I decided to reach out to the Mayor and as of today I have not heard back. That is very strange as she has always responded to me. Maybe she has not gotten around to responded or is checking. If I hear back I will share. Hopefully some media will get to asking questions?
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT Charlotte and CMPD does not want us knowing all the crimes going on in our city and more importantly our communties! The last year if you looked at the city as a whole even the last 7 days the map was covered up. 9
SHAME on Charlotte if that is Indeed what is happening. Crime has to be horrible I have personally been a victim of 3 different crimes in the last year. Mail theft, ID theft (thousands stolen), and stolen credit card / charges up at the eye store at Tyvola Mall. Just this week I had a Sams Club delivery. The guy sits in front of my house. My cameras alerted me someone was outside. I came to door to see one of the two exact items I purchased on the step. He was turning around in the middle of the road. I flag him down and say I order 2 of these. He said here it is. I was not sure it was yours? Really the order said 2 and his delivery online stated 2. He was for sure going to keep the other item and most likely state he left 2. Thinks to my cameras that would not of worked. Sam's drivers don't take pictures of their deliveres.
If you liked the crimemapping tool let the city know. Not knowing what is going on is much more dangerous than knowing.
