Yorktown North Maintenance Association

Annual Meeting October 18, 2009

Present: Directors Charles Owen, Donnie Faulkner, Vicki Welch, Linda Duncan, Bob Davison, Mark Osborn, Martin Rothman, Billy Vincent

Absent:  Murry Harral

Twenty- seven residents were in attendance.

Vicki handed out comment cards at thr beginning of the meeting, encouraging residents to specify any concerns that they might want addressed by by Vicki as their Metro Council representative.  She also passed out an Events list, reminding all of up-coming events in the district.

Charles then reviewed neighborhood projects of the past year.:

MSD's adding rock around two/thirds of the shoreline of the front lake and 1,500 feet along the shore of the back lake.  This was done to stop the shoreline from continuing to erode.

We have granted a temporary easement to MSD on property backing up to the North DDitch so MSD can lay a 72-inch pipe in the ditch to better control water-flow.  After they are finished laying pipe and repairing the outlet from the back lake into the ditch, MSD will replace the farm fence they had to remove to undertake this project.  They have already removed the pumping station located at the end of Old North Church Rd.

New street sign posts have been ordered for the entire subdivision, with new signs made where needed.  These posts will stand ten feet tall to lessen their vulnerability to vandalism.  All work is being done by J.C. Speagle, who lives in the neighborhood and who gave us the best price on street signs.  All STOP signs will be mounted on these new sign posts in lace of the posts there now.

Linda shared with residents that all minutes and the Log of police events reported to her can be viewed on our website under Neighborhoodlink.com.  She also reminded residents that the neighborhood hotline number is 367-3882.  This number can be called to report problems neighbors wish addressed.  Criminal activity should be reported directly to the police at 5742111.

Vicki presented the Budget for 2010.  There was some discussion of why $2,000 is being budgeted for security.  Charles explained that we keep that available in case we need to hire off-duty police to help stop activity such as vandalism. The motion to approve the budget was made by Tim Hardy, seconded by Bobby McMitchen.  The motion passed.

Issues presented:  speeders - Vicki will ask police to do some two-hour checks; On-street parking - Vicki will have police check parking on Olde Colony Cove and Chippendale where cars park on the street beyond the 24 hours allowed by city ordinance.

Dogs running loose, posing threat to walkers - Charles requested the addresses of offenders so he can mail letters to them reminding them of the leash law and that IPL will be called if dogs continue to run loose

; Portable basketball goals on the street - Charles will remind residents in our next newsletter to push portable goals off the street when their use ends.

Speed humps were also mentioned for further consideration at the first directors' meeting of the new year.

Elections were then held for three directors' positions
