Our next regular meeting will be on October 28, 2002. We are still in need of a Secretary to take and keep our meeting minutes. This job involves only the need to be present at our meetings every three months throughout the year and possibly sign checks for the Treasurer in the event that the president or vice-president are unavailable. Anyone who might be interested please come to the meeting in October and see one of the Executive Committee members.

On September 11, 2002, we paused to remember the first anniversary of what might be the worst disaster in America in our lifetime. Many of us still wonder even a year after what we can do as one person to remember and honor those who died. One way to do that in Jefferson County is through the Citizen Corps. On Monday, September 30, representatives from the American Red Cross, Jefferson CountyPolice, EMS, and our County Fire Departments will meet with those interested to share how you might be able to help our community meet its goal. The meeting wil be from 7:00pm until 8:30pm at Locust Grove on Blankenbaker Lane. Please feel free to check the Citizen Corps web-site at www.citizencorps.gov
