My husband Evans and I built our house in Glenverdant in 1979. Although the neighborhood was relatively new, most of the houses had already been constructed. We had a choice of perhaps ten lots, or "estates," as developer John Ringle described them. On Winterway Lane, three properties only were available, ours and two on the circle. The roads and driveways were gravel, which ushered mountains of dust into the houses. We had the good fortune to build next door to the Meade family, now lifelong friends. Within three years, Theresa and Regina Meade introduced us to the world of horses, which changed our outlook and interests forever.
